I had the pleasure of speaking at this year’s Fotokina event, held at the iconic Fotografiska in Stockholm. As part of Fujifilm’s program, I gave a presentation and live demo focused on one of the most anticipated tools in their lineup: the brand new GFX 100II medium format camera combined with the new 120mm tilt/shift lens.

The session explored the practical applications of tilt/shift in the context of controlled object photography — particularly for cultural heritage documentation, where precision and depth of field are crucial. I demonstrated how the lens can be used to control plane of focus in-camera, and compared this to the more common method of focus stacking using a macro lens and software.

It was rewarding to have a hands-on setup where we could go through both techniques in real time, looking closely at how they affect workflow, image consistency, and detail preservation. The crowd consisted of mostly journalists and led to great follow-up discussions about how different tools shape our approach to visual documentation.

Many thanks to Fujifilm for the invitation, and to Fotografiska for providing such a fantastic setting.
